Belated Update

I know it has been a while since I have updated but I have finally found time and energy to do so. Our family, like many all over the country, have battled the flu and are beginning to recover. Gracie was the last to get it but definitely had the quickest recovery. She is also sleeping through the night now for the most part and smiling up a storm all the time! We love the sweetness and joy she brings to our family.
(seriously, mommy, aren't you done taking my picture yet?)

Two weeks ago, she had her well-baby appointment and had grown quite a bit. She was 21 1/4 inches long and weighed 9 pounds and 8 ounces. I took her in again on Thursday to have her cold looked at and she now weighs 11 pounds! This girl eats like tomorrow she won't be able to. :-) She sure loves her food!

On Wednesday, she discovered toys! Well, one toy that is. Dylan placed it in hand and she promptly put it in her month and also hit herself in the head with hit but she seemed quite enthralled with the whole process. It's so much fun to watch her grow up! I think once she discovers her hands completely, we're in big trouble! :-)

Thursday afternoon, we left town for a much needed get-away. We headed two and half hours away to a lake cabin in Bemidji, MN. The people I used to nanny for own the cabin and allowed us to use while they were away. We reserved the time and they sent people out to prepare it for us, all we had to do was clean up before we left. It was lovely to get away and just spend time as a family. I know it sounds crazy that we would go to the lake when it's frozen solid but it's still beautiful and peaceful out there. I did land our car in a ditch full of snow but thankfully we had contacts that were able to pull us out! :-)

I love the lake, Daddy!
Kitchen and dining room at the lake. This place is way bigger than our apartment! Living room, you can see the great room in the background - it has floor to ceiling windows in there overlooking the lake.
The bedroom we stayed in.

The lake covered with snow, we couldn't get out there because there was too much snow but there was this HUGE squirrel...someone had been feeding him.
